URUMQI, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The China-Europe freight train services handled in Horgos port, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, hit a monthly record high and ranked first among ports across the country in July, the port customs said.
Singapore hopes the United States is able to stabilize its relationship with China, because Asia depends on stable ties between the two countries to have a secure and predictable environment to prosper, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in an online interview hosted by Washington-based think tank Atlantic Council, the Straits Times reported.
"The development of China and of the United States is not a zero sum game, and we should not reject each other. What we should do is to draw on each other's strength to achieve common development," he said.
"I fully agree and support Wang's opposition to (U.S. Secretary of State Mike) Pompeo's assertion that the policy of engagement with China pursued by successive U.S. administrations has failed, and his call for advancing the relationship through cooperation," Sylwester Szafarz, former consul general of Poland in the Chinese city of Shanghai, told Xinhua.

"It is neither necessary nor possible for the two sides to change each other. Instead, we should respect the choice independently made by the people of the other side," he said.
A French colleague, also a UN news reporter, came to our office just to voice her support when she heard of the order targeting Chinese journalists.
First, steer clear of red lines and avoid confrontation. For China-U.S. relations to develop soundly, the most critical thing is mutual respect, Wang noted.
Facts have proved that settling disputes through dialogue is the right way that best serves the interests of regional countries, and countries in the region have a shared responsibility to keep the South China Sea peaceful and stable, he said.
