BEIJING, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese spokesperson on Monday reiterated that China has no interest and has never interfered in U.S. presidential elections, in response to a top U.S. intelligence official's statement saying China is stepping up efforts to influence the election.

The Chinese diplomat said the recent allegations against Chinese consulate in Houston or any of Chinese diplomatic missions in the United States are "totally groundless."
BEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday that gross interference in Hong Kong affairs undermines "one country, two systems."
"We urge the U.S. side to abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of three China-U.S. joint communiques, stop official interactions and contact of all kinds as well as the upgrading of substantive relations with the island, and handle Taiwan-related issues in a prudent and proper manner, so as not to seriously damage China-U.S. cooperation in major areas as well as peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait," Zhao added. Speaking of the BRI, Cambodia has greatly benefited from the cooperation with China under this framework, Sorasak said, adding that from physical infrastructure, connectivity development to trade and tourism, the BRI has brought about significant contributions to its economy.
"The U.S. has frequently abused state power to wantonly suppress non-American firms under the pretext of national security. This is blatant bullying behavior, which China firmly opposes," the spokesperson said, noting relevant U.S. moves have drawn criticism and doubts from many people within the United States and the international community.
Still, it will be necessary to establish a clear framework for relations between China and the United States, given the current complex situation of ties, he said.
The legislation on safeguarding national security in Hong Kong has plugged the long-standing legal loopholes in Hong Kong, he said, adding that the legislation will "ensure both the long-term implementation of the policy of 'one country, two systems' on the basis of rule of law and durable security and stability of Hong Kong."
"China has shown its interest in cooperating with other countries in the development of a vaccine against the new coronavirus, even announcing that it will make its vaccines a public good with universal access," he said.
