"There is such a degree of political intervention, government intervention into the market. There's such a discrimination against Chinese company. These companies are just private companies," the ambassador said.
Given Beijing's willingness to cooperate, Castrillon believed the U.S. administration's disputes had less to do with policy than with trying to get re-elected in November.
"China's role in opening up to global economy through many initiatives, including its BRI, contributes a lot to the trend of global trade flows given its very potential production and consumption hubs," Sorasak said.
These actions will by far create trade unpredictability and render the domino effect through the introduction of such policy by other members as retaliations, he added.
"Projects linked to the BRI such as the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) and the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway are two ideal examples to show how BRI helps Cambodia in strengthening industrial sector and diversifying exports through transport and logistics enhancement," he said.
"I do not believe there will be a 'new Cold War' between the two powers. The two countries have great economic, trade and financial interdependence. Personally, I believe the two countries can resolve their differences through dialogue, as they have cooperated in the past," Maggiorelli said.
The assertion turns a blind eye to all that has been achieved in China-U.S. relations over the past decades, and shows ignorance of the historical process and lack of respect for the Chinese and American peoples, Wang said.
