WASHINGTON, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's nuclear power is not at the same level as that of the United States and Russia, and it is not yet the right timing for China to join their nuclear disarmament talks, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai has said.
The remarks were made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian while responding to a query about Azar's visit at a press briefing held in Beijing.
Spokesperson Wang Wenbin made the remarks at a routine press briefing after Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison delivered a speech at the Aspen Security Forum on Wednesday, saying that Australia welcomes China's rise, and expects China to play a role in regional and global stability. He also said Australia has found no evidence showing it should restrict the popular short-video app TikTok.
Hu Baoguo, deputy mayor of Kunming, said that the city of Vientiane and various sectors of society had donated 261,000 yuan (about 37,500 U.S. dollars) worth of medical supplies to Kunming since the epidemic was first reported in the province.

BEIJING, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's Foreign Ministry on Monday slammed the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar's ongoing visit to Taiwan, urging Washington to stop official interactions and contact of all kinds, as well as the upgrading of substantive relations with the island.
"The U.S. move to turn China into an adversary is a fundamental, strategic miscalculation. It means that the United States is funneling its strategic resources in the wrong area," he said.
Second, keep the channels open for candid dialogue. Dialogue is the prerequisite for addressing problems, and without dialogue, problems will only pile up and even get out of control, he said.
While the issues that generate tension between China and the United States are multiple and complex, the issues that unite them are weightier enough to save bilateral ties, he said.

Regarding Washington's restrictions on Chinese technology companies, the experts agreed that the measures will only isolate Americans from progress in different fields, including 5G technology in telecommunications, in which Chinese companies are at the fore.
