U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday issued an executive order banning any U.S. transactions with the Chinese tech firm ByteDance, owner of TikTok, starting in 45 days.
"After establishment of diplomatic ties, and thanks to concerted efforts on both sides, China-U.S. relations have made historic progress despite ups and downs along the way," he said.
He made the remarks in a signed article titled "Respect History, Look to the Future and Firmly Safeguard and Stabilize China-U.S. Relations," which was published Friday.
"We will continue to require enterprises engaged in deep-sea fishing to strictly abide by relevant laws and regulations," he added.
To conduct dialogues does not mean to make the two sides fully aligned, but to increase mutual trust and seek common grounds while reserving differences, said Ruan Zongze, executive vice president of the China Institute of International Studies.
In the meantime, China is prepared to strengthen maritime cooperation with other littoral countries, deepen mutual security confidence, and advance joint development, so as to make the South China Sea a sea of peace, friendship and cooperation, he added. Enditem
In the interview, Wang refuted a series of recent U.S. moves hurting bilateral ties, including U.S. closing the Chinese Consulate-General in Houston, launching global campaign against Chinese companies, making fierce attacks on the Communist Party of China and interfering into China's internal affairs.
In response to some U.S. politicians' irresponsible remarks on this issue, Wang said the United States is not qualified to make accusations against other countries' maritime affairs as it has not yet ratified the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The Chinese side has proposed that the two countries draw up three lists respectively on cooperation, dialogue and issues that need proper management, and draw up a road-map for future interactions, he added.
While the two countries are quite different in social system and many other aspects, such differences have not affected bilateral peaceful coexistence and cooperation, said Wang.
